Ontario continues to help the next generation of youth-led Ontario companies

April 23

This summer, Ontario continues to help the next generation of youth-led Ontario companies through Summer Company by providing students aged 15 to 29 with hands-on business training, mentoring and grants of up to $3,000 to start and run their own summer business.

This program helps students between 15 and 29 launch a summer business, so they can get a chance to be their own boss this summer while learning what it takes to manage a business.

Successful applicants will receive start-up money to kick-off a new summer business as well as advice and mentorship from local business leaders to help get the business up and running. Sales, marketing, bookkeeping, customer relationship management and networking are just a few of the highly useful skills they will develop.

Maximum award amount is $3,000, of which up to $1,500 up front to help with start-up costs, and up to $1,500 when they successfully complete the program requirements. The program for 2024 is open now through May 17. Please visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/start-summer-company-students learn more.

Last summer, this program has supported 342 youth to explore entrepreneurship through the creation of their own summer businesses.

Through the 2024 Budget, Ontario is providing an additional $1.4 million for Summer Company to support the program by providing grants of up to $3,000 to an additional 250 students (15 to 29 years old) over two years.
