Please join this very important townhall meeting next week in Scarborough regarding the proposed Sheppard Line Extension that Metrolinx is currently working on.

Following the announcement by the Ontario government in Spring 2022 to extend the current Sheppard subway line that aims to improve connectivity across Sheppard Avenue, Metrolinx is currently seeking public input from the community on the best options for this proposed Extension. 

This is very important for our residents in the Scarborough region to provide Metrolinx with your feedback in order to collectively develop a plan that works for Scarborough. That’s why MPP Aris Babikian (Scarborough-Agincourt), MPP David Smith (Scarborough Centre), and myself are organizing this townhall meeting with the community, with officials from Metrolinx on-site to present their plan and listen to your feedback. To provide more background on the current phase of the project, Metrolinx is seeking public input now on plans for this Extension in order to help them develop an Initial Business Case (IBC) for rapid transit on Sheppard Ave., east of Don Mills Rd. (to Scarborough) as well as west of Yonge St.

The Initial Business Case captures the justification and reasoning behind the project, and will examine the following: 

•    Extending Line 4 on Sheppard Ave., east (to Scarborough) and west of Yonge St. 
•    Potentially connecting planned rapid transit lines to existing lines, alignments, station locations, and technologies
•    Forecast transit ridership, and explore the benefits, costs and network impacts of any potential Sheppard extension concept
•    Evaluate alignments and stop locations, operating strategies, and maintenance requirements
